Having been in the dry cleaning business for some 20 years - 15 of them on the present site - Farin Lalji, the manager of Royal Dry Cleaners of Chiswick decided that time had come to upgrade their shop environment. Realising that other dry cleaners have been able to add extra services to their business, thus potentially additional margins Farin contacted Standard Engineering.
The resultant major refit has introduced the new services of shoe repairing and key cutting. These services have been installed in the front of the shop whilst the dry cleaning and pressing operations have been moved to the back of the shop out of sight of the customers.
Farin is delighted with the look of her new shop and the significantly increased turnover generated! She is keen to emphasise the value of the advice and assistance given by Standard in arriving at a suitable space saving but eye catching machinery set up.
Happily the theory has been more than matched by the equipment supplied.
The new services on offer are clearly visible to the public passing the shop whose eyes are irresistibly drawn to the plasma screen display located on the wall behind the new shoe repair section - this can be deployed either to advertise the services of the shop, special offer or run videos.
Farin reports that whilst the refit and the installation of the new services has considerably added to total turnover and increased overall margins, the original cleaning business itself has also gained as a result of the extra customers attracted to the shop.
The operation undertaken by Farin and Royal Dry Cleaners is a magnificent example of what an independent dry cleaner can achieve with the right advice in their constant contest to keep up with the major multiple chains.
