Not content with resting on our laurels of being one of the premier shoe repair machinery manufacturers in the world, Standard Engineering continue to develop and refine their product range.

 Our Model 710 Finisher remains the market leading UK finisher and it is easy to see why.  A comfortably familiar tooling set-up coupled with a number of useful options gives the modern repairer all he needs.  For a number of years, as both Whitfield Wylie and latterly as Standard Engineering, a number of variations of the basic 700-type finisher were trialled.  These included such, barely-lamented machines such as the “700E” which had a single shaft for a few brushes and mops, the “787” which was basically a square version of the 700, through to the “700X” with a mysterious shelf built directly above the single shaft of brushes. 

 Another version on a theme was the Model 750SP Finisher, which was an attempt to load as many features as possible into an unfeasibly small machine.  It worked, after a fashion, although it required the operator to adapt their way of working to accommodate the lack of naumkeag motor and narrow band.  Whitfield and Standard sold a number of these machines over the years, despite the compromise nature of its performance, but more often than not, an enquiry for the 750 led to the sale of a 700 or 710 when the customer realised how much more of a finisher they could get for a little extra money, and using a little extra space.

 The realisation that the size of the 710 is invariably not an issue has led us to look to offering more choice and tooling within this accepted machine size.

The 710 Finisher offers all the user might need to perform their labours.  However, should a repairer or podiatrist require MORE than all they need, we have that covered too!  The Model 720 gives the discerning cobbler everything the 710 gives him, but also has a number of additional features.  The 720 comes as standard with: -

•  A third trimming head featuring a mini scouring roll, ideal for finishing
• Twin scouring and extraction speeds to enable the operator to adapt operation to material requirements
• Increased working area around the tooling to accommodate larger footwear
• Every finisher from Standard is now fitted with a fire resistant Nomex filter bag

 On top of all of these benefits, we also offer such items as a re-designed Mini-band unit, electronic brush tumble operation and more recently, a fire suppression unit.  This fire suppression unit, along with the Nomex filter bag, offers, when allied to good machine housekeeping, an additional safety feature for Standard’s finisher range.
