Quality British Made Shoe Repair Machinery

“IS THERE ANY WAY YOU CAN….”

…. Supply this machine with “x” or “y” or it?

You’d be surprised how many machinery enquiries begin this way.

We’ve spent over a century refining our finishers to hopefully anticipate anything and everything the customer may require from our machines and then we have a visit from someone like Ian Mason of www.bigshoesuk.com.

Ian makes handmade bespoke cricket and golfing footwear and has supplied his footwear to many amateur and professional sportsmen over the years. Up until recently he has been using an ancient finishing machine of a type so old that we could find no trace of it in our machinery records which date back to the 1930’s. Having decided to upgrade he got in touch with us and arranged to visit our factory.

The last-making side of Ian’s operation necessitated the requirement of a small scouring wheel of a kind we have never fitted to one of our machines before. Much head scratching later and we had an answer which proved acceptable to Ian. We built and supplied a scouring roll which could be interchanged with the breaster on the 700 finisher.

We also put another small scouring roll onto the finisher instead of a heel cutter and made a couple of changes to the extraction – all at Ian’s instruction.

Upon completion we delivered the fully reconditioned 700 finisher to Ian’s premises. Although suitably delighted with upgrading his machine we suspect that Ian is already pondering further possible attachments that will make his life and job a lot easier. Certainly this is the impression we formed after reading Ian’s email subsequent to the installation:-

“Gary

The extra scouring roll looks to be exactly what I need, and it occurs to me that if I need a method of roughing up the bottoms of the shoes prior to cementing, I could have another one "made to measure”, probably 40mm wide but a bit bigger in diameter. Anyway, I'll let you know how I get on before I go mad!!

Very many thanks for your excellent service, and if anyone ever wanted to come and see are conditioned machine prior to buying, I would be delighted to let them see mine. It will always remain in pristine condition!

Kind regards

Ian Mason
